Gordon Shedden left disappointed after Oulton Park puncture

Gordon Shedden was left ruing his lack of luck as a puncture in the final race at Oulton Park denied himself a podium and a Team Dynamics 1-2.

The reigning champion was having a consistent day up until that point, finishing fourth in races one and two before working his way up to second in race two, behind team-mate Matt Neal. The pair stormed away at the head of the field, holding an eleven second margin over the chasing pack, but a puncture on the penultimate lap ended all hopes of a Honda 1-2.

“Sometimes it goes with you, sometimes it doesn’t,” Shedden told TouringCarTimes. “At the minute I just can’t buy any luck, but that’s how it goes. Swings and roundabouts. Disappointing because we’ve thrown a load of points away but everyone has their tale of woes. Whether we’ve hit something or debris, we were close to Cook early on, but we’ll have to have a look to see. The car felt good, especially with the weight, but there’s no point being good if you can’t make it to the end.”

Shedden was quick to turn his attention on the next round at Croft, but knows that it will be a tough job to take on the West Surrey Racing squad, who made the North Yorkshire circuit their own in 2015.

“We just got to keep working, we’ve got to find a bit more,” continued Shedden. “It’s BMW territory, they won all three races last year so we’ve got to be strong somehow and just take what we can. We’ll take advantage when we can but you’ve still got to look to the end of the season, there’ll be tracks that suit us still to come too.”
